marilynandbob  > Humor > Snowdown, 2009
Oh my Gosh, another Snowdown! If you've looked at our website over the years, you know that we always have a big Gallery for Snowdown- Durango's annual winter carnival. Most of you know that Marilyn loves to dress up, and you've figured out that Bob does too. The theme changes yearly; this year it was "DURANGO IN DA NILE" and you can just imagine how many Cleopatras and Pharaohs there were! So, enjoy the Gallery...

marilynandbob > Here we are at the Snowdown Follies Gala which we attended with a couple of complementary tickets from a friend. Bottle of champagne on every table, a rose for each lady, some fun! Marilyn made Bob's excellent costume, except for the headdress (purchased online). Marilyn is wearing the costume for the Jazzercise entry in the Snowdown Parade of Lights- sort of a toga with a cool beaded headdress!
marilynandbob > Close-up of Marilyn's Egyptian make up... I wish I could do this every day!
marilynandbob > Several of us got together for dinner at Gazpacho's Mexican Restaurant (hey, Durango doesn't HAVE an Egyptian restaurant...). Here we are, such a motly crew. Marilyn, Susan, Reece, Laura, Wally (hidden) and Bob.
marilynandbob > Susan and Reece with some pervert friend of theirs.... Susan and Reece often costume with political statements: She's wearing the "bridge to nowhere" as a comment on a local Highway project, and Reece is attired as the "Twin Buttes", which is a proposed development in a wilderness corridor. By the way, no one we know could fit into that bra.
marilynandbob > At the Gala, some more n'er-do-wells: Les, a friend from the college looking very much (I think) like Kevin Bacon, Wally White, one of Durango's county commissioners looking positively regal, Pharaoh Bob, and Laura in her black wig and High Priestess outfit. The other face is an unknown.
marilynandbob > More friends at the Gala: Greg, the County Planner, and our neighbors, Ann and Andy. As you see, everyone gets into the spirit. Or maybe, just everyone we know does...
marilynandbob > Good friends Frank and Barb, who had previously said they were so not interested in costuming, and at the last minute turned out looking really excellent!
marilynandbob > Getting ready for the Snowdown Parade of Lights, in which a whole bunch of floats and entrys march down the street in freezing cold weather! Each entry displays multiple lights, and the creativity is amazing. Jazzercise does a dance routine, and our music comes from the float leading us (this year, with Cleopatra on her barge being fanned by two young muscular "slaves"). We always warm up from our routine when we actually get the parade going! Bob's job was to jive around in front and through the middle of the Jazzercise ranks waving his sacred tools (made by Marilyn from a kitchen utensil and a knife sharpener)! This year we won a big prize: First Place in the Non-Commercial category!
marilynandbob > After the parade we head over to the Strater Hotel, where our friends Peter and Colleen from Gallup, New Mexico, always have a room party. Here are the two "Big Pharaohs" relaxing.
